'Discovering an old photograph'

'Discovering an old photograph'
Staring at the cupboard full of old documents and photo’s I wondered how long it had been since we cleaned it last, and where on earth I would start, so I decided to go from top to bottom, left to right. I pulled out a large cardboard box covered in floral wrapping paper, it was heavy and full of photographs and sheets of paper that belonged to my great aunt Elda.
I pulled out a photo from the middle of the stack in the box and stared at it, I’d seen it before but I wasn’t sure where, it was old and weathered, blackish green mould spotted the left hand corner covering the date, I turned it over, there was writing on the back, perfectly scripted in black ink, it read,
Elda Lucy Cobbler. 1967, “
It looked so familiar, I walked back into the kitchen sat the photo on the table and walked down the hall to my room where I found the exact same picture on my wall, although it was more recent, from 2000, which was so weird, because Aunt Elda had died just a few days after the photo was taken.
Mother came home and I asked her about it, she told me the woman in the recent picture was our Aunt Mary, in the exact same spot, exact same position, exact same date, as Great Aunt Elda, it was tradition. I was to do it in 3 years, because I was the first born girl and looked like Great Aunt Elda.

Meaningful song.

'Hearing a voice from your distant past, nearby in a crowd'

Hearing a voice from your distant past, nearby in a crowd, really make you realize how much you miss them. That day, in Melbourne I was walking along and suddenly behind me I heard the distant voice of an old childhood friend, I turned to see his face, his beautiful blue eyes and dark brown almost black spiked hair and hear his deep masculine voice, then in an instant he was just a cloud of dust, I wasn’t sure what had happened but for that moment my life was complete. Everything felt like it dropped into place, I wasn’t sure how long it had been since I’d seen him, maybe 10-15 years. It was as if he was a ghost, he just vanished disappearing into the crowd of unfamiliar faces.
I raced back to my apartment and phoned his old mobile number, hoping, praying, and wishing to hear his familiar voice. But all I heard was the automated lady on the other end of the phone telling me the number had been disconnected. I sat the phone down gently back on the receiver and slowly got up walked to my bedroom and paced around the room slowly and cautiously avoiding the clothes and shoes strewn on the ground after the morning rush to get to work, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle that had just happened back together, attempting to figure out whether it had actually happened or it was just a figure of my imagination. In an attempt to save my saneness and life I decided to forget it and move on, I walked out of my apartment to see the same face and the familiar voice I had been longing to hear, then in an instant he was gone, just like before.
